Sumeena’s career began in public art museums and galleries, where she focused on community-based programming, eventually becoming a creative producer. Sumeena’s move into the world of philanthropy came from an epiphany while walking in the threatened native forests of Tasmania with people who were joining together to save the special place from needless destruction.
With over 15 years of experience in fundraising across the for-purpose sector – including the arts, higher education, medical research, conservation science, natural environment protection, and sustainability – Sumeena brings a strong passion for uniting people to support meaningful projects to her work at WELA.
Sumeena resides in Lutruwita/Tasmania with her partner and extended family, where they enjoy the natural beauty of the mountains, forests, and beautiful beaches for ocean swimming.
